asked the Minister for the Environment if he will immediately advise a person (details supplied) in County Clare who is an applicant for a home improvement grant, of the amount he intends granting for the necessary work that must be carried out.

The applicant was notified in January last of the approval of a grant for sewerage facilities. A grant could not be allowed, however, for installing a water supply as the applicant had indicated that the facility was being provided as part of a group water scheme. The remainder of the proposal was disqualified for grant purposes because an essential repairs grant was paid in respect of the house in 1983.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid a £1,000 new house grant as the house was built to regulation size.

A grant cannot be paid because the floor area of the house is in excess of the statutory maximum allowable for grant purposes i.e. 125 sq. m. (1346 sq. ft.). The applicant has been so informed.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid a house improvement grant.

An inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks with a view to payment of the grant.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will receive a certificate of approval for a house improvement grant.

The certificate of approval has issued to the applicant.

The application in question was rejected in January, 1978, The relevant records do not indicate the reason for such rejection.

A grant of £2,800 has been approved for the applicant in this case subject to confirmation of the receipt of planning permission for the proposed works.

A maximum grant of £800 in respect of the replacement of defective windows and doors has been approved in this case.

A final inspection has been carried out and the grant will be paid within the next few weeks.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment if an approval will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick in respect of an application for a house improvement grant.

Notification issued to the applicant on 1 March 1986 authorising him to proceed with the work in respect of which his application was made subject to the conditions of the scheme (other than the prior inspection requirement) applicable when he applied for the grant. However, an inspection with a view to approval of a grant will be carried out within the next few weeks.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment when a decision will be made and the amount of grant allocated for a house improvement grant in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Notification of the approval of a grant of £2,800 has issued to the applicant.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will receive payment for a house improvement grant, as the work has been completed over two months ago, and he is paying a bridging loan at 17 per cent interest.

An inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks with a view to payment of the grant.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final inspection on a house improvement grant application will take place for persons (details supplied) in County Wexford; if he will expedite this; and if he will ensure that final approval is at the maximum rate.

Grants totalling £4,976 have been approved in this case as follows: provision of sewerage facilities £376, bathroom facilities £600 and maximum grants of £2,000 each for the building of an extension and the carrying out of necessary repairs to the fabric of the house. The relevant file has been referred for final inspection with a view to payment of the grants approved.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider correspondence (details supplied) in relation to an application for a grant for reconstruction and improvement made by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 and the shortfall in the estimate as indicated by the inspector for his Department relative to the written estimates for the same work which he has obtained; and if, in view of the enclosed, he will reassess his Department's estimate of the work which needs to be done, as a matter of urgency.

This case is being considered at present and the applicant will be notified of the outcome as early as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange an inspection in connection with a new house improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Offaly before she commences the work.

However, following a recent request, an inspection with a view to the approval of a grant will be carried out within the next few weeks.

An inspection with a view to approval of a grant will be carried out within a few weeks. Accordingly the question of payment does not arise at this stage.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a cheque for a group water scheme has not, as yet, been paid to a group (details supplied) in County Galway; and if arrangements will be made to pay this cheque immediately.

The full amount of State grants due for this scheme (i.e. £400) was paid to the group on 16 January 1986.

(Limerick East) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

There has been no undue delay. The question of paying a grant has been deferred pending receipt of confirmation from the applicant as to whether he wishes to have his application processed under the 1981 or the 1985 scheme of grants.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will pay a grant in respect of a group water scheme at Herrilcok, Fethard-on-Sea, New Ross, County Wexford.

The allocation of grants for this scheme will be given further consideration when the group provides the additional information requested by my Department in September 1985.

asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will be given for a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with a slightly different name from the same address. In that case grants totalling £1,257 have been approved.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The application in this case was recieved on 6 March 1986. A grant cannot be allowed because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house had been carried out.

82.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that the other conditions of the grant scheme have been fulfilled. The inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks.
