Vol. 368 No. 9

Written Answers. - Oranmore (Galway) Sewage Disposal.

55.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry if he will give details of discussion in the past six months which have taken place between Galway County Council, the Department of the Environment, An Foras Forbartha and his Department with regard to the disposal of sewage into Oranmore Bay; and if he is satisfied with proposals now being adopted by Galway County Council.

My Department has not had any formal discussions with Galway County Council or the Department of the Environment or An Foras Forbartha in the past six months concerning the disposal of sewage into Oranmore Bay.

The proposals contained in the phase I study on the Oranmore sewerage scheme prepared by An Foras Forbartha for Galway County Council were accepted last year by my Department, from a fisheries viewpoint. I am awaiting proposals on Phase II of the Study.
