Vol. 368 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Hotel Training School.

8.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will reconsider his decision in connection with the recent closure of the hotel training school at Rockwell College, County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The hotel training school at Rockwell College is a privately owned establishment and the decision to close it was taken by the college authorities.

There will be no diminution in the availability of training opportunities for young people in the hotel industry arising from this closure. Negotiations are in progress at present to ensure that as many as possible of the new places required will be in the Munster region. Arrangements are also being made by CERT to relocate those trainees who will not complete their course until 1987.

Is there a guarantee that the trainees who are disturbed because of these transfers will be accommodated for the start of the next academic year?

Yes. Arrangements are being made with CERT to relocate the trainees who have not completed their courses.
