Vol. 368 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Department of Labour Legislation

12.

asked the Minister for Labour the legislation he intends to bring before the House in the next 12 months.

I hope to be in a position to bring the following items of legislation before the House in the next 12 months:

—Worker Participation (State Enterprises) Bill

—Safety, Health and Welfare Bill

—Employment Equality (Amendment) Bill

—amending legislation to reform industrial relations and trade dispute law, and

—amending legislation on unfair dismissals.

I think I got that answer last year. I know that one of those Bills has been published; and another one in draft form, which the Minister of State did not mention, gives AnCO powers in relation to external training contracts. Whoever prepared the brief is not up to date. Those two Bills are published. Will the Minister of State tell the House when the other Bills will be published? In regard to some of the Bills he mentioned I got the same answer in 1984 and 1985, although that is not his fault. What is the real position?

The answer the Deputy got was slightly different from what I have given. I am not in a position to indicate to him when the Minister intends to have the Bills published but I can communicate it to him.

I understand that four or five of these Bills may be available in October. If they are available during the recess I would like to get them in adequate time, otherwise I would like to be told that they are not coming forward. If I read up on material two years in advance I forget what I have read.
