Vol. 368 No. 11

Dublin Metropolitan Streets Commission Bill, 1986: Discharge of Order.

I move:

That the Order for Second Stage of the Dublin Metropolitan Streets Commission Bill, 1986, be discharged and that the Bill be withdrawn.

I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Leader of the Opposition. He must be the super pseudo-Dub of all times.

May I ask if the Taoiseach would like to make a statement on the fact that building societies feel so offended by the behaviour of the Minister for the Environment that they insist on the Minister for Finance accompanying him to all meetings from now on?

(Interruptions.)

It was agreed by an Order of the House that item 21 be taken without debate.

I am asking if the Chief Whip would care to comment on the statement by the Minister for the Environment?

I bet he agrees.

The Government Chief Whip asked me yesterday if I would agree to the Government asking to have this Bill discharged and withdrawn and I gave my consent to that. I want to make it clear——

Deputy Haughey is not the Taoiseach.

——and I am sure the Whip would agree that this is an action by the Government to which we have agreed.

Question put and agreed to.
