Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Foresters' Training Courses.

232.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry the number of foresters who attended training courses at the British Forestry Commission's training centre in Scotland in 1984, 1985 and 1986 and the reason such courses could not be organised in Ireland.

In 1984 two foresters attended a training course in the operation of timber harvesting machines at a British Forestry Commission training centre in Scotland. No foresters attended courses in Scotland in 1985 nor in 1986. The officers in question attended these courses in preparation for the setting up of a similar training centre at Mountrath, County Laois. This centre is now in operation.
