Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

240.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for Finance if a tax rebate is payable to the next-of-kin of a person (details supplied) who died during the tax year 1985-86.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has written to the deceased taxpayer's daughter as next-of-kin for the information necessary to finalise the case. On receipt of this information a review of the taxpayer's liability for 1985-86 to the date of death will be carried out and any tax found to have been overpaid will be refunded to the daughter as quickly as possible.

241.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly whose income tax affairs are dealt with by the inspectorate of taxes in Dublin.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes is unable to process the taxpayer's claim for repayment of tax pending receipt from him of certain details which are required to enable a review of his liabilities for the years 1984-85 and 1985-86 to be carried out. The inspector wrote to the taxpayer on 10 August 1986 for the required details but there has been no response. A reminder has now been issued to the taxpayer.
