Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

126.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.

There is no record of the receipt of an application from the person named. However, an application has been received from a person with the same surname and a similar address. In that case notification of the completion of the works has not been received.

127.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review approval of a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; and the reason for the non-approval of a maximum grant.

When the person named submits the documentation requested from him on 14 March 1986, further consideration will be given to his claim for the grant.

128.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will expedite inspection and payment of a grant and subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

The inspection will be carried out within a few weeks and the grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that all the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been fulfilled. Payment of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will not arise until 12 months repayments on foot of the loan have been made and the appropriate claim form, duly completed and certified by the relevant lending agency, has been received in my Department.

129.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final inspection relating to the new house grant application of persons (details supplied) in County Wexford will be carried out; and if he will arrange for a prior appointment card to be issued in advance of the inspection.

An inspector called recently but was unable to gain access to the house. A further inspection by appointment will be carried out as soon as possible.

130.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the £5,000 surrender grant will be paid to applicants (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will expedite this payment in view of the circumstances.

Applications for these grants are handled entirely by the appropriate local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. A certificate has not been received in my Department in this case. The grant will be paid as soon as possible following receipt of the certificate.

131.

Under the special dispensation from prior inspection announced last February notification issued to the applicant authorising him to proceed with the work in respect of which his application was made subject to the conditions of the grant scheme (other than the prior inspection requirement) applicable when he applied for the grant. However, as requested, an inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks with a view to the approval of a grant.
