Vol. 369 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 4, 5, 6 and 29. By agreement, at the conclusion of Business today, the Dáil shall adjourn until 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, 29 October 1986.

The Taoiseach is joking, of course. When?

Unanimous.

Sine die.

Hope springs eternal.

Order, please.

Unanimous.

Order, please. Is it agreed that at the conclusion of business today the Dáil will stand adjourned until Wednesday, 29 October 1986?

Fascinating.

A Cheann Comhairle——

A Cheann Comhairle, should the opportunity arise. I should like to raise on the Adjournment the question of the B & I.

Train times have been changed.

The Deputy's additional request will be considered and the Chair will communicate with him.

In the light of changing circumstances.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the question of the hardship that will be caused by the manner in which the Government propose to implement equality in social welfare.

I shall communicate with Deputy De Rossa.

In view of the extreme urgency attaching to the provision of a ferry from Cork to the United Kingdom, may I ask the Taoiseach personally to ensure that a decision on the commitment of the Government is issued immediately?

That does not arise on the Order of Business.

It arises with the people of Cork and the south west.

With your permission, I propose to raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of Question No. 24 on yesterday's Order Paper.

I shall communicate with Deputy Leonard.

May I raise another matter, that is, to ask the Taoiseach, if in view of the total rejection of the legislation for the free port area in Cork, he will see to it that first class and not second class legislation will be introduced?

That does not arise on the Order of Business. We are moving on to item No. 4.

I beg the Ceann Comhairle's pardon, I am asking a question on legislation. May I have an assurance from the Taoiseach that the legislation to be issued for the free port area of Cork will be of first class and not second class standard?

That is argumentative. It is not a question.

It is a silly question.

It is a very important question. May I raise on the Adjournment— and may I second what my colleague, Deputy Wilson, said about such an Adjournment — the subject of the legislation for the free port area in Cork?

I shall communicate with Deputy Lyons.
