Vol. 369 No. 5

Written Answers. - Drogheda and Dundalk Employment Exchanges.

106.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the terrible conditions that exist in both the Drogheda Employment Exchange and the Dundalk Employment Exchange with severe overcrowding which forces recipients to queue up in inclement weather on the street outside; and the plans his Department have to rectify this terrible situation, and extend the facilities in both exchanges and improve the unsatisfactory conditions in which the staffs of the employment exchanges have to operate; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Work is expected to be completed this month on a major scheme of improvements which will rectify the overcrowding problems and improve staff conditions at Dundalk Employment Exchange. The Commissioners of Public Works have completed plans for a similar scheme in respect of Drogheda exchange and tenders will be invited when funds are available.
