Vol. 369 No. 8

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payment.

232.

asked the Minister for Labour when the award made by the Employment Appeals Tribunal to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick will be paid, as the company concerned have refused to acknowledge or implement the recommendation.

The person in question was paid a lump sum by his employer on 31 January 1986 in respect of a statutory redundancy entitlement. He did not agree with his employer's calculation of that entitlement and, therefore took a case to the Employment Appeals Tribunal for payment of the outstanding balance which he considered to be due to him. The tribunal found in his favour but his employer refused to pay the additional amount. He then made application to my Department for payment from the redundancy and employers' insolvency fund and payment of the outstanding balance was issued to him from the fund on 6 November 1986. The amount of rebate payable to the employer from the fund will be adjusted to take account of the supplementary payment made to the employee.
