asked the Minister for Finance if he will estimate the cost to the Exchequer of providing an extra income tax free allowance, in the case of persons aged 80 or over, of £100 for a single person and £200 for a married couple.

The full year cost, estimated by reference to the position for the current income tax year, of the concession referred to by the Deputy is estimated at £400,000.
