Vol. 369 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Wexford Road.

51.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the very dangerous condition of the Ballymackessy-Clonroche stretch of the national secondary road between New Ross and Enniscorthy; if he is aware of the numerous accidents which have occurred there, one fatal accident already this year; if he will provide the finance to have this treacherous stretch completed in 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the general condition of the stretch of road in question and of the numbers of accidents which have occurred there. However, I am not in a position to say what grants will be allocated to individual road schemes in 1987, pending the determination of the overall provision for road improvement grants in the context of the 1987 budget.

52.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is satisfied that the New Ross-Enniscorthy road should be upgraded to national primary status; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have not received any request for the upgrading of the New Ross-Enniscorthy road.
