Vol. 369 No. 11

Written Answers. - Limerick Garda Station.

166.

asked the Minister for Justice if there are any plans to close Edward Street Garda station, Limerick city; and if there are plans to reduce the personnel who presently work in Edward Street Garda station.

Officers of the research and planning unit of the Garda Síochána are at present carrying out a detailed review of Garda deployment and organisation in the Limerick area, with a view to making recommendations to the Commissioner about Garda strength and deployment in the area when the new station at Roxboro is completed. Present indications are that the new station will be completed in mid-1987. Pending completion of that review and consideration of the findings, it is not possible to say what the Garda strength and deployment in the area or what the future status of Edward Street station will be.
