Vol. 369 No. 11

Written Answers. - Bovine TB.

24.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware of the substantial increase in bovine TB; and the plans, if any, he has for its eradication.

There is no basis for the view that there has been a substantial increase in bovine TB in 1986. On the contrary, all the indications from the current disease eradication programme are that, apart from some parts of the midlands, notably County Longford, the disease situation is well under control.

I have already indicated to the House the measures we have taken in County Longford and adjoining areas.
