Vol. 370 No. 5

Written Answers. - Donaghmede (Dublin) Policing.

162.

asked the Minister for Justice when it is proposed to provide a Garda station in the Donaghmede area, Baldoyle, Dublin 13.

There are no proposals at present for the establishment of a Garda station in the Donaghmede area. However, following a review of the policing arrangements for the area, the Garda authorities propose to establish a policing office or "clinic" there where gardaí will be in attendance for certain hours each day so as to be readily contactable by the local community. This clinic would also serve as the centre for Garda patrolling of the area. Two gardaí will be detailed to the area for each tour of duty and will carry out foot patrols and mobile patrols, as well as providing the "clinic" service. It is proposed to operate this arrangement on an experimental basis and it is hoped that it will be possible to acquire suitable rented accommodation in the near future.
