Vol. 370 No. 5

Written Answers. - Shortage of Trees for Planting.

100.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry if he is aware that a shortage of planting stock is restricting certain private planting operations; and the action, if any, he proposes to take to improve the stock of trees for planting purposes.

101.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry if he is aware of a shortage of spruce stock for planting; and if he has any proposals to remedy the situation.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 100 and 101 together. I am satisfied that ample supplies of plants are available from home sources or by way of imports to meet the present needs of the private forestry sector.
