Vol. 370 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tax Free Allowance.

53.

asked the Minister for Finance the correct tax-free allowance in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who is currently on disability benefit and whose wife works part time for which she receives a gross weekly wage of £8.10; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, on the basis of his most recently completed return of income, which is dated 29 October 1986, the taxpayer's tax-free allowances for the current year, 1986-87, have been computed at £5,806. A balance of £700 of those allowances has been allocated to the taxpayer's wife to cover her employment earnings. Appropriate certificates of tax-free allowances were issued recently to the taxpayer and his wife.
