Vol. 370 No. 11

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Garda Station.

12.

asked the Minister for Finance the up-to-date position regarding the provision of a new Garda barracks at Ballyheigue, County Kerry.

The present position is that planning is under way for a new Garda station and residence at Ballyheigue, County Kerry. It is hoped to have the project ready for invitation of tenders in the early part of 1987.

I am sure the Minister is aware that a site was purchased in Ballyheigue six years ago. In view of the fact that Ballyheigue is a summer resort it is essential that there should be a proper Garda barracks. Would the Minister give me an assurance that a new Garda barracks will be constructed in the near future?

I have already indicated the position and I do not think I have much to add to what I have already said.
