The Sugar Manufacture (Amendment) Act, 1982, authorised an increase in the share capital of Siúicre Éireann Teoranta from £10 million to £75 million. Since then a total of £50 million has been invested by the Government bringing the total capital issued to £57 million. The question of providing further equity investment is being reviewed as part of ongoing consideration of the company's overall situation and finances and the progress being made to achieve viability.
