Vol. 371 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Kilmacthomas (Waterford) Court Sittings.

4.

asked the Minister for Justice in view of the threat of suspending court sittings from Kilmacthomas courthouse, County Waterford, due to unsuitable conditions, the action he intends to take; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under section 3 (1) of the Courthouses (Provision and Maintenance) Act, 1935, the responsibility to provide and maintain courthouse accommodation rests with the relevant local authority.

I am aware that the court accommodation in Kilmacthomas is poor. However, I am informed that Waterford County Council have prepared extensive plans for improvements and they intend to carry them out during 1987.
