Vol. 371 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Legislation.

63.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has any plans to amend the Social Welfare (No. 2) Act, 1982, to provide as a limited measure the broadening of the Social Welfare tribunal's powers of review in the case of a trade dispute, where its earlier decision was erroneous in the light of new evidence or new facts having been brought to its attention; and if he will make a statement of the matter.

The provision regarding entitlement to unemployment payments for persons involved in trade disputes, including the powers of the Social Welfare tribunal in relation thereto, are under examination at present in the light of the experience in operating the present legislation. The matter referred to is being considered in the context of this examination.
