Vol. 371 No. 8

Written Answers. - Remedial Post.

217.

asked the Minister for Education when a remedial teacher will be appointed to serve Ballivor, Coolronan and Kildalkey, national schools in County Meath where there is an enrolment of 333 pupils between the three schools and a large number of pupils in urgent need of this service; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Since the Deputy last asked this question in October 1986 the application from the schools in question has been considered. Available remedial posts for the current school year were allocated in accordance with a priority of need. The application referred to by Deputy has not, however, been placed sufficiently high in order of priority of educational need to warrant the allocation of a post. The application will be further considered in the light of the availability of posts in the future.
