asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the role the Government envisages for the National Development Corporation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 16 and 19 together.
The duties and functions of the National Development Corporation are set out in the National Development Corporation Act, 1986, which also empowers me to issue policy directives to the corporation.
I expect that the corporation will shortly be presenting to me their business plan setting out their strategy for the next few years and, when I have considered the plan, I will decide whether any policy changes should be effected either by directive or otherwise.
