Vol. 371 No. 8

Written Answers. - Reports and Accounts of State-sponsored Bodies.

87.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the measures he has taken to ensure that the reports and accounts of State-sponsored bodies under his aegis comply with the decisions announced by the previous Government on 16 December 1986.

The Combat Poverty Agency, which was established in September 1986, is the only State-sponsored body under the aegis of the Department. The legislation establishing the agency places certain obligations on the agency in relation to the submission of annual reports and accounts and requires that the form of such reports and accounts is subject to the approval of the Minister, with the consent of the Minister for Finance. The decisions made by the previous Government are being taken into account in formalising these aspects of the agency's operation.
