Vol. 371 No. 8

Written Answers. - Bord Iascaigh Mhara.

123.

asked the Minister for the Marine if the marketing division of Bord Iascaigh Mhara has been taken over by Córas Tráchtála.

The answer is in the negative. A decision of the previous Government to transfer these functions to Córas Tráchtála has been rescinded, because the Government considers that they can best be handled by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara which has well-established links with both the production and marketing sides of the fishing industry. BIM will, of course, work in close liaison with Córas Tráchtála in its export marketing activities.

124.

asked the Minister for the Marine if the boatyard division of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara has been closed down; and the action, if any, proposed to recover moneys owed to it.

As An Bord Iascaigh Mhara have not been engaged in boat-building for some years, the boatyard division of the board no longer exists. The recovery of any outstanding moneys in regard to former BIM boatyards is a matter for the board.

125.

asked the Minister for the Marine if he intends to abolish An Bord Iascaigh Mhara.

The answer is in the negative.
