Vol. 372 No. 3

Written Answers. - Connaught (Horan International) Airport.

43.

asked the Minister for Finance if he proposes granting customs designation to the Horan International Airport.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that designation as a customs airport is approved only when facilities for the landing and clearance of freight, which are fully compatible with Revenue requirements, are established and passenger and freight traffic reach a level sufficient to justify full time customs attendance. There are three customs airports at present viz Dublin, Shannon and Cork.

I am informed by the Commissioners that the position of Connaught (Horan International) Airport is under review in the light of the above criteria.
