Vol. 372 No. 4

Written Answers. - Local Government Review.

85.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the continued concern expressed by many people in the town of Tuam, County Galway concerning its urban status; when the full status of Urban District Council can be conferred upon the town; if the necessary transfer of functions appropriate to an Urban District Council will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Government's Programme for National Recovery indicates our intention of undertaking a comprehensive review of local government structures. The status of towns generally, including Tuam, will be considered in the context of that review.
