Written Answers. - Garavogue River (Sligo) New Bridge.

59.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a final decision has been made on the allocation of the contracts for the construction of the new bridge across the Garavogue river, County Sligo and the approach roads to the bridge; and, if not, when the decision will be made; the date when work will commence on the project to the nearest month; the duration that will be included in the contract document for the completion of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that Sligo County Council is currently examining tenders for this scheme. Pending receipt of a proposal from the local authority for the acceptance of a tender, the Department is not in a position to supply information in the form requested by the Deputy.

A road grant of £1 million has been allocated for this scheme in the current year which will enable work to commence as soon as the normal formalities have been completed.
