Vol. 372 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ship Arrivals.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance if ships arriving at Dublin Port between 8 p.m. and 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 p.m. Monday will continue to be dealt with by customs officials; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that ships arriving at Dublin Port between 8 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays and 8 p.m. Saturday-8 a.m. Monday continue to be dealt with by customs officials in respect of the clearance of passengers and their vehicles and the loading and unloading of goods.

However, in relation to the boarding and searching of ships, the commissioners have recently introduced a greater degree of selectivity involving less predictable checks and greater staff mobility.
