Vol. 372 No. 7

Written Answers. - Income Tax Refund.

55.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Waterford is paying such a high rate of income tax on the pension he receives fortnightly; if his tax assessment will be re-examined; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an amended certificate of tax-free allowances, granting tax exemption for this year, will be issued to the taxpayer shortly. Any tax deducted from his retirement pension since 6 April 1987 will be refunded to him by the payer of that pension when the amended certificate is put into operation.
