asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review the decision to refuse a £2,000 house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 for necessary work to the fabric of a house in view of the fact that the application was made on 31 December 1986 although an inspection took place on 23 March 1987.

The application received on 31 December 1986 had to be returned to the applicant to be fully completed. However, it was not received back in the Department in sufficient time to enable any inspection to be carried out on or before 27 March 1987 and accordingly a grant cannot be allowed.

An inspection with a view to payment of the grant will be carried out as soon as the applicant confirms arrangements to have the house open.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review the level of grant to be paid under a certificate of approval for a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly, in view of the cost of carrying out the work; when the second inspection will take place; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A maximum grant of £2,000 related to the carrying out of repairs and the replacement of windows was approved. Accordingly a further increase in the grant is not possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a new house grant will issue to persons (details supplied) in County Waterford.

An inspection with a view to approval of the grant will be carried out as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the £2,250 builders grant is payable in the event that materials are purchased by the prospective owner and the builder has paid for the labour content only in the construction of the house; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is a condition of eligibility for the £2,250 grant that work to the value of £15,000 at least, exclusive of materials purchased by the applicant, is carried out by a contractor registered for VAT.

The receipt of additional documentation and information requested from the applicant is awaited.
