Vol. 372 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

72.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange to have payment of a subsidy under the beef suckler scheme made to a person (details supplied) in County Laois; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A requirement of the EC suckler cow premium scheme is that the proportion of an applicant's income from farming shall be not less than 50 per cent of his total income. When his herd was inspected under the 1986 scheme, the person named admitted that his earnings outside farming were much greater than his farm income and he was informed by the inspecting officer that he was not, therefore, eligible.

73.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange early payment of an installation grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, where the transfer has been completed and his Department notified; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An application under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers was received from the person mentioned prior to the termination of the scheme on 31 March 1987. The application is currently being investigated and, if the applicant is found to be eligible, payment will be made in due course.
