Vol. 372 No. 9

Written Answers. - Energy Research and Development.

42.

Mr. N. O'Malley

asked the Minister for Energy the total expenditure on research and development on energy projects approved by his Department since 1979 by way of grants to the State sponsored bodies or the private sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A total of £496,764 has been spent by my Department, since it was established in 1980, by way of grants to private and State sponsored bodies for approved projects of energy research and development. The following are the main areas of energy research and development which have benefited from these grants: wind, hydro, geothermal and biomass.
