Vol. 372 No. 9

Written Answers. - Howth Yacht Club Vacant Premises.

143.

asked the Minister for the Marine the plans, if any, there are for the recently vacated premises of Howth Yacht Club on the West Pier, Howth, County Dublin; if the agreement of the Minister of the day, between the yacht club and the local fishermen that on moving to their new site the yacht club would make the club available for the use of the local fishermen, will be honoured and implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The premises which are the property of the Commissioners of Public Works, who are the harbour authority, have not yet been made available for reallocation. When they become available I will consider the various options for their use, including their use by the local fishermen. I must point out, however, that there is no record in my Department of a firm commitment that the premises would be made available to the fishermen on their surrender by the Howth Yacht Club.
