asked the Minister for the Environment the response from local authorities to his Department's letter of 15 August, 1984, regarding the disposal of industrial waste; the grants which have been paid out to date; and the names of the local authorities who availed of such grants.
Written Answers. - Disposal of Industrial Waste.
The circular letter in question announced the introduction in 1985 of a scheme of 50 per cent capital grants towards the development of a network of co-disposal sites at which industrial and other wastes could be accommodated satisfactorily. Eight local authorities have since submitted tentative proposals but only one project has been judged to fulfil the grant criteria. This is located in the Cork Corporation area and assistance totalling £300,000 has been paid to the local authority.
