Vol. 372 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bovine Diseases Levies.

4.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food whether the levy of £6.50 per animal slaughtered — to come into operation on 20 April 1987 under the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Regulations, 1987 — equally applies to animals for export and for domestic consumption; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Levies under the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Regulations, 1987, apply to animals slaughtered for the domestic and export markets and also to animals exported live.

Will the Minister say if this is being enforced for the domestic market?

My information is that it is being enforced and the Department are quite satisfied with the response from the domestic market.
