The total number of grants paid in County Roscommon under the farm modernisation scheme for the years 1977 to 1986 inclusive was 12,058. The total number of grants paid in the same county under the programme for western development from the introduction of the programme on 15 April 1981 to 31 December, 1986 was 3,190.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a cow suckler grant was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The person named is deemed ineligible for the 1986 suckler cow scheme as he is not recognised as a farmer practising farming as his main occupation.
He has been paid his 1986 calf premium scheme grant already.
