Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Waterford County and City Infirmary.

266.

asked the Minister for Health if he has satisfied himself that the County and City Infirmary, County Waterford, can continue to provide an adequate level of service with a 25 per cent reduction in its grant from the South-Eastern Health Board resulting from that board's reduced allocation, and if not, the proposals, if any, he has to remedy the situation.

At the outset I should say that the County and City Infirmary Waterford is funded direct by my Department and not by the South-Eastern Health Board.

Since the allocations were issued officials of my Department have had two meetings with the authorities at the hospital to discuss the measures which will have to be taken to contain expenditure within approved limits. Some of the measures proposed have implications for other services in the Waterford area and a meeting is being arranged with the South-Eastern Health Board to ensure that an adequate level of service is provided in all specialties in Waterford.
