The annual programme of special and commemorative stamps to be issued by An Post is approved by the Government about a year in advance so as to give An Post sufficient time to commission, study and recommend appropriate designs to the Minister for Communications and to meet publicity, marketing, production and distribution requirements. The 1987 and 1988 stamp programmes were settled by the Government in April 1986 and December 1986 respectively. None of the subjects suggested by the Deputies is included in the approved programmes.
