Vol. 373 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork Regional Hospital Laboratories.

63.

asked the Minister for Health the capital cost of the new pathology laboratories in Cork Regional Hospital; the unit cost per test; and the charge per test under contract in 1984.

The laboratories at Cork Regional Hospital formed part of the overall contract for the construction of this hospital which was opened in 1978 and the cost of this facility is not readily available. The capital cost of equipping the laboratories amounted to £671,226.

With regard to the unit cost per test and the charge per test under contract, as up to 17 different tests may be done on any one specimen I am informed that this information is not readily available. However, I have arranged to have information on this matter obtained and I will communicate with the Deputy.
