Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

71.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when payment of disability benefit will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 27 January 1987. Payment of benefit was not authorised immediately, as his British insurance record had to be obtained, and it was also necessary to determine whether he was last employed in this country. This information has now been obtained and it has been determined that the person concerned is entitled to payment of benefit from this Department.

Payment of benefit has been made from 27 May 1987, at the weekly rate of £105.00, the maximum rate payable to a married man with four dependent children. Benefit for the period from 30 January 1987, fourth day of incapacity, to 26 May 1987, has been withheld pending receipt of details of supplementary welfare allowance advanced.

75.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a refund of PRSI contributions will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who has been overpaying for the past five years.

The position in relation to the payment of social insurance contributions in respect of the person concerned by one of the companies, now in liquidation, which employed him, is being investigated at present. When these investigations are completed the question as to whether the person concerned is entitled to a refund of PRSI contributions will be determined.

73.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when arrears of disability benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 11 April 1987 and is currently being paid at the weekly rate of £41.10 the maximum rate.

She was not entitled to benefit at the commencement of her claim as according to the records of the Department she had less than the required minimum of 39 contributions paid or credited in the contribution year governing her claim.

She subsequently submitted details of her employment record confirming that she had sufficient contributions paid to qualify for payment of benefit.

All benefit payable to 22 May 1987, the date of the latest medical certificate, has been issued to the person concerned and there are no arrears due.
