Vol. 373 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dental Services.

89.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that as a result of only having one dentist attached to the Clondalkin health centre, Dublin 22 patients have to endure long delays in receiving appointments for essential dental treatment; and the plans, if any, he has to provide an additional dentist to this very busy clinic so as to provide a more satisfactory service for the public.

The provision of dental services in the Clondalkin health centre is a matter for the Eastern Health Board. The board indicate that while there is only a one-chair dental surgery in that health centre, it is staffed on a full time basis. A lack of space precludes the provision of a second dental chair in the Clondalkin health centre but when necessary the health board make every effort to accommodate patients at other clinics in order to minimise delays.
