Vol. 373 No. 8

Written Answers. - Rush (Dublin) Sewage Discharge.

161.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to complaints regarding the discharge of raw sewage into the river at Rogerstown Estuary, Rush, County Dublin; the steps, if any, he proposes to take to ensure that there is not a recurrence of this; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The operation and maintenance of sewerage schemes are the responsibility of the relevant local authority, in this case Dublin County Council. I understand from the council that a break in the foul sewage main in this area recently led to the discharge referred to by the Deputy and that the main has now been repaired by the council.
