Vol. 373 No. 8

Written Answers. - Compulsory Purchase Order.

172.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the compulsory purchase order for the provision of a link-road from Rathcoole to Saggart, County Dublin; for the provision of playing fields to serve the Rathcoole area; when this compulsory purchase order will be implemented and the completion of the lands proceeded with; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Dublin County Council Compulsory Purchase (Saggart-Rathcoole Link Road and Open Space) Order, 1984, was confirmed by the Minister for the Environment on 23 April 1986. It is understood from the council that negotiations for the acquisition of the land are now in progress. Design proposals for the link-road were approved by my Department on 14 May 1986 without commitment to provide road grants for it. The further development of the scheme is primarily a matter for the local authority.
