Vol. 373 No. 8

Written Answers. - Road System.

189.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will upgrade the Ennis-Kilrush secondary route, County Clare, to national primary status; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The national primary and secondary road system is now generally regarded as established, having been formally declared in 1977 following a long process of evaluation and consultation. It is considered that, having regard to the criteria used to designate national primary roads, the up-grading of the Ennis-Kilrush road to this status would not be warranted.
