An application under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers was received from the person mentioned prior to the termination of the scheme on 31 March 1987. The application is currently being investigated and, if the applicant is found to be eligible, payment will be made in due course.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of a calf subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The £282.54 due to the person named under the 1986 calf premium scheme is being offset against £1,160.48 owed by him to the Department under the scheme of premiums for the conversion of dairy herds.

70.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will introduce the EC calf subsidy scheme in 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The EEC calf premium scheme is continuing in operation in Ireland in 1987 and application forms covering calves born in the past year have been posted recently to every registered herdowner in the country.

71.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a suckler cow grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

Under the 1986 suckler cow scheme, an applicant's farm income must be at least 50 per cent of his total income. As the person named has an off-farm income, his farm income is being assessed to determine whether he is eligible for payment under the scheme.

72.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange for immediate payment of headage grants to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person named has been requested to forward particulars of his off-farm income so that his eligibility for the 1986 cattle headage and suckler cow scheme can be determined. When the information requested is received his applications will be considered further.
