Vol. 373 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Employment Scheme Statistics.

147.

asked the Minister for Labour the total number of persons employed on the social employment scheme in County Wexford on the last day of May 1986 and 1987; and the way in which these figures compared with other counties in the south-east region for the same period.

Statistics relating to the social employment scheme are compiled on the basis of National Manpower Service regions. Details on a county basis will be available only when the records of the scheme are fully computerised.

In the south-east region comprising counties Waterford, Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny and Tipperary (S.R.) there were 1,265 participants employed at the end of May 1986. The corresponding figure for 1987 is 897.
