The total cost of providing school transport in 1986 was £18.98 million in respect of primary pupils and £14.66 million in respect of the post-primary system. It is not possible to provide separate figures for each post-primary school category.
The corresponding unit costs per pupil were £273 for primary and £169 for post-primary.
