Vol. 373 No. 9

Written Answers. - Central Bank.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has satisfied himself with the present role and performance of the Central Bank; the changes, if any, which are planned in the functions of the bank or the membership of its board; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied that the Central Bank has performed its role to the standards one should expect. As indicated on previous occasions, the Currency and Central Bank Acts have been under review in my Department and proposals will be examined by me and put to Government in due course. I do not propose to comment in advance of this examination.
